Providing Quality Child Care & Early Education

Why Choose Us to Care For Your Child

Children on the Green is proud to deliver an educational program with the following primary benefits:

  • Flexible scheduling to meet individual family needs. Children on the Green is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. 6:00 p.m. The program serves children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 6 years as either full-time or part-time weekly students.

  • A nurturing educational environment with an emphasis on curriculum. The Creative Curriculum is first utilized in the Infant classroom and continues through Early Preschool. The Tools of the Mind curriculum, which seeks to develop cognitive skills such as self-regulation, is utilized in the Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten classrooms. Please see Programs for more information on the curricular aspects of Children on the Green.

  • With a belief in educating the "whole child," the core curriculum is supplemented through participation in enrichment programs in the languages, arts and sciences. Enrichments programs are included as part of the tuition fee.

  • Our program includes a nutritious lunch and two healthy snacks daily, the cost of which is included as part of the tuition fee.

  • Student to teacher ratios which meet or exceed State requirements. For example, Children on the Green maintains a ratio of 3:1 in the Infant program, well above the State requirement of 4:1. The ratio for the Toddler classroom is 4:1 and the ratio for Preschool is 8:1.

  • High average educator tenure relative to the childcare industry. The average tenure of Children on the Green teachers is 7 years

  • Accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC accredits early childhood education centers that meet its requirements, which are both more stringent and more comprehensive than state licensing requirements. Children on the Green shares this distinction with just 10% of the daycare facilities nationally. Children on the Green received its first NAEYC accreditation in December 1996, and was reaccredited by NAEYC for the fifth time in 2013.

  • Teachers committed to their own professional development. Many Children on the Green teachers are certified and/or pursuing educational degrees. In addition, we support professional development for all of our staff and offer them a tuition reimbursement program.

  • Parents supportive of the school and its mission. Please see Testimonials for the heartfelt remarks and letters of support from our parents.
