Yen holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Fairleigh Dickinson University and began her career with the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency, gaining valuable experience in child welfare. After a career pause to raise her family, Yen transitioned to teaching and became a lead teacher at a Head Start program. Her passion for early childhood education led to her promotion to Assistant Director, and eventually Director, at a Head Start center in Newark.
In her leadership roles, Yen focused on supporting staff, building family relationships, and advocating for quality education. She is committed to mentoring educators and empowering them to thrive in their careers. Yen earned a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in Administration, Management, and Leadership from Walden University to further enhance her ability to lead and drive systemic change.
A strong advocate for the social and emotional well-being of young children, Yen recently earned an endorsement from the New Jersey Association for Infant Mental Health. She is dedicated to fostering collaboration, inclusivity, and emotional well-being at Children on the Green, where she continues to strive for excellence in early childhood education. Kay has been an active and engaged member of the Morristown community since relocating from her home state of Minnesota in 2012. Her deep dedication to the youth of the area is evident through her years of volunteer work with the Girl Scouts of Greater Morristown, where she served as the Service Unit Manager. In this role, she provided guidance to troop leaders, managed activities and fundraising campaigns for over 700 Girl Scouts, and mentored her own troop from their early years through high school graduation.
Kay's commitment to local causes continues through her volunteer efforts with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, where she has successfully organized and led fundraising events annually—even during the challenges of the pandemic.
In addition to her extensive volunteer work, Kay brings a strong business background to her role at Children on the Green. She graduated with a degree in International Business and Marketing from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. Her previous career at 3M Company allowed her to hone her leadership and sales skills across various divisions, including Industrial, Consumer, and Retail. This experience has equipped her with a strategic mindset and a problem-solving approach that benefits both her work with children and her leadership in the community.
One of Kay’s greatest joys is being part of Children on the Green, where she finds fulfillment in the vibrant work environment surrounded by the sounds of children’s laughter, learning, and discovery.

With over twenty years of experience working with preschool-aged children, Sabine's passion for early childhood education runs deep. She holds an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Essex County College, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Liberty University, and is currently pursuing her MBA at Liberty University to further enhance her leadership skills and broaden her impact in the field.
Sabine is a firm believer in the importance of early childhood education and is dedicated to providing high-quality care that supports the cognitive, emotional, and social development of young children. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to creating nurturing, engaging environments that foster a love of learning and help children build a strong foundation for future success.

Jody Marcus is the Executive Director of Harmonium and has worked for 25 years in the non-profit sector. She has worked at the Morris County Tourism Bureau as Assistant Director, the Raritan Headwaters Association as Director of Development, and at the Morris Museum as Curator. Jody was a founding member and executive director of the Community Children’s Museum in Dover and was a member of Morris Educational Foundation board for 12 years. She has a master’s in industrial design from Pratt Institute and a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology from the University of Massachusetts. Jody lives in Morris Township and is passionate about the wellbeing of the children in our community.
Sanjay has active board member since 2019 of which last three has been as a Treasurer for COG. In his professional career, he is the CFO - North America for Consumer Division of L’Oreal having worked with them over 20 years. On a personal note Sanjay is married to a practicing pediatric dentist and has a daughter who is a pediatrician and currently doing Fellowship in a Long Island Hospital.
Jen Borkowski has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Jen has marketed a broad range of brands and categories in both the US and globally. She has a proven track record as a team lead with experience in oncology, rare disease, vaccines, and men’s health, to name a few. Jen is most passionate about patients and better understanding the unmet needs of their communities. Currently, she is a SVP, Group Management Director at FCB Health, a global marketing communications company. Jen holds a BA in Communications from Virginia Tech.
Jen lives in Morristown with her husband and 3 children, all who attended Children on the Green. She has seen first-hand the positive impact the center has had on her own children and enjoys being able to further support COG by being on the board.
Melissa K. Flynn has more than a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership. After an AmeriCorps service year, Melissa worked in grants management for college access and completion programs for low-income families in New York City. She feels privileged to serve on the Board of Children on the Green and support its mission to provide high-quality early childhood care and education for all. She serves as the Grants Liaison, supporting the Center's fundraising.
Melissa graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She currently serves on the leadership team of the Health Coalition of Passaic County, a State-designated Regional Health Hub and health equity nonprofit in Paterson.
Melissa and her husband, Brian, are the proud parents of two young sons, who both attend COG. They live in the Burnham Park area of Morris Township, where they are also involved in the Burnham Park Association.
David Yermack is a Professor of Finance at the NYU Stern School of Business, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1994. He also has experience as a journalist, management consultant, and attorney. He and his family have lived in Morristown since 1996, and their four grown children all attended Children on the Green during their preschool years between 1999-2012. He has served on the COG board of trustees for more than 20 years and is also a trustee of the Red Oaks School in Morristown and several other non-profit organizations.
